About
Louise Broderick is a British born multi-genre writer. Her paternal grandfather was the author of many non-fiction titles. Her mother was also a prolific writer whose main interest was history.
Louise’s writing career began in 1969 when at the age of seven she was awarded a Certificate of Merit with a book she had written and decorated. This early creation was followed by many self-published titles all carefully crafted with cereal box cardboard covers and highly decorated interiors.
After school, where her main academic prowess was writing, she had a series of dead-end jobs, carefully chosen for the time in work which could be used for writing plot outlines and often abandoned first chapters.
After marriage, children, and a move to Southern Ireland she established a lifestyle magazine which led to a long career as the contributing editor of several lifestyle and equestrian magazines. For eleven years, as a single mum she juggled editing a magazine remotely, with working as a guide on a trail riding holiday.
In 1998 her first book, a sports biography, was published, since then she has written many fiction titles across a multitude of genres.
In 2019 she returned to education, completing a master’s degree in writing at the University of Galway, unusually bypassing the required BA entrance qualification on the strength of her writing alone.
Since completing her degree, she has continued to write. As well as her own books she has ghost written several books, been published in literary magazines, edited books for clients, and has also researched and written episodes for true crime podcasts.
Louise juggles writing with running a small farm in Ireland. She lives with a menagerie of horses, cats, dogs and goats. As often as possible she travels to visit her adult children in far flung corners of the world.
